Commenting on the Heritage Minister's announcement that grant funding has been offered for the Former Christ Church in Welshpool and the Newtown United Reformed Church, Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates states:
"This investment is very welcome news and will pay an important role in helping to maintain our historic environment in Montgomeryshire. Newtown and Welshpool are both market towns full of interesting heritage sites and I know that many people will feel the benefit that this money will bring in conserving two of our local historic churches.
"I look forward to continued local and national investment, which will help to preserve our culture and heritage as well increase economic activity and regenerate our communities across Wales.
"I will continue to campaign for more funding for the Owain Glyn Dwr Centre in Machynlleth, which is a shining memorial that commemorates such an important time in our Welsh history."
