Assembly Member for Montgomeryshire Mick Bates has written to the First Minister to ask for the Welsh Assembly Government to support the RAF Association.
Commenting Mick stated:
"The Royal Air Forces Association has over 70,000 members worldwide and helps tens of thousands of people each year. The work that the RAF does pays tribute to those who have given so much for their country, offering much needed support for our serving and ex-serving airservice personnel as well as their families.
"On Armistice day I think it only right that we recognise the ultimate sacrifices that our Armed Forces and their families have made in protection of our country. Supporting RAFA would send out the message that the Welsh Assembly Government and the people of Wales recognise these sacrifices and the debt we owe to the men and women of our Armed Forces.
"2009 has been chosen to commemorate the Armed Forces across the whole of the UK and 2010 will mark 70 years since the Battle of Britain. To mark this momentous time I have written to the First Minister urging the Government to support the tremendous work of the RAF Association during this period, so that it can continue to provide valuable support to ex-serving members of the RAF and their families and make such a difference to peoples' lives."
