Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates has praised the Job Centre and Careers Wales for their swift action in putting on an event for the former Floform employees on Monday in Welshpool.
Commenting Mick stated: "Careers Wales and the Job Centre did an excellent job in delivering advice and information. Whilst I think many people are still shocked about what has happened, it is important that they try and get good advice as early as possible. For those experiencing financial difficulties there are local agencies that can assist."
Mick has written to the Government urging the publication of information about the React Scheme which offers employers assistance in the form of £2000. "The Government should be doing more to publicise this assistance in these troubled times" Said Mick.
Further to discussions with the Receivers and representatives of the workforce, Mick has said that "The Company had no choice other than to close down. Volvo had been 40% of the business and when Volvo build forecasts were reduced from 170,000 to just 70,000 the business was insolvent."
"However, despite all this there are bids expressing interest in the business. I am optimistic that there will be swift action now so that any new business can be established in the locality using the skills and expertise of the Floform workers."
