Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates has given his vote in the National Lottery 'Good Causes Awards' and is urging others to do the same, to celebrate the achievements of lottery funded projects which make a huge difference to individuals and communities across Wales.
Commenting, Welsh Lib Dem Mick stated:
"The National Lottery 'Good Causes Awards' are an excellent way to raise awareness of the fantastic work being carried out across the UK with lottery funding. I urge people to vote for their favourite projects, to celebrate the hard work of those who dedicate themselves to improving the lives of so many in communities across Wales.
"Over recent years I have had the honour and pleasure of taking part in Mencap Cymru's 'Partners in Politics' project, where I have had the opportunity to meet with young people in schools and colleges and learn more about how young disabled people wish to be engaged in civil society and politics in Wales. The project has had a big impact on the understanding of young people with a learning disability and additional learning needs in Wales of their civil rights and I have given my vote for 'Partners in Politics' in the award for Best Charity or Voluntary Project.
"The Gofal Cymru Community Crisis House is a pioneering project that offers a community-based alternative to psychiatric hospital admission. The holistic nature of the project offers excellent support in a homely and supportive environment, to help people with mental health problems through a difficult time in their lives, without needing to enter hospital. I am very pleased to give my vote for Gofal Cymru in the category for Best Health Project and I urge others to do the same."
