Mick calls for Heritage Minister support for Theatr Hafren

Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates has called on the Heritage Minister, Alun Ffred Jones, to give support to Theatr Hafren for its plans for refurbishment and expansion.
Speaking in the Chamber today Mick stated:
"In the current economic climate less and less people are travelling abroad, instead preferring to spend time in their local area and cultural events are becoming increasingly popular.
"In Montgomeryshire we are lucky to have a gem called Theatr Hafren, host to a range of community, professional and educational events with a catchment from Oswestry to Wrexham, Aberystwyth and Brecon.
"Although the theatre is withstanding the pressures of the recession, it is in dire need of refurbishment and has exciting plans for expansion.
"I urge the Minister for Heritage to visit Theatr Hafren to discuss its vision and plans for the future of this enterprising venue, which is host to so many wonderful cultural events and I hope to welcome the Minister to the theatre in the near future."
