Lembit Öpik, Liberal Democrat MP for Montgomeryshire, this week renewed his membership of the RSPB at Lake Vyrnwy in his constituency.
The Lake Vyrnwy reserve is home to very many popular bird species including black grouse, red grouse, hen harriers, merlin, and peregrines. The reserve is 24,000 acres, including 11,500 acres of Organic Farm Land where the RSPB rears Welsh Black Beef and Welsh Mountain Lamb for local sale.
Following his visit, Lembit said:
"By joining the RSPB I've joined over one million people who respect and value the work of this outstanding environmental organisation. Their passion for our natural habitat is infectious, and it's truly breath-taking to consider how many thousands of British acres are safely cared for and nurtured by their experts and volunteers. I think it's fair to say that the RSPB has really changed the shape of our rural country - and that's quite an achievement. Their values and enthusiasm shine through in everything they do. That's why I've signed up to the RSPB and why I hope you do too."
